The Queensland Government currently offers cash rebates up to $1500.00 for the purchase and installation at an existing dwelling of a rainwater tank of 3000 litre or larger which is plumbed to at least one internal connection such as a laundry or toilet. No rebates are able to be claimed when building a new house.

The Brisbane City Council currently offer rebates for water tanks that are plumbed into the home for internal use at existing homes. A rainwater tank of 5000 litres or greater attracts up to $1,150.00 (Pensioner $1,250.00) rebate and a 3000 litre tank attracts a $900.00 (Pensioner $1000.00) rebate. The tank must be installed by 30 June 2008 to be eligible. The Brisbane City Council's rebate can be claimed in addition to the Queensland Governments rebate.
